Thank you for considering joining us for our first-ever RISE run. Hosting a half marathon has been a dream of mine for years-- which is bananas because a decade ago I couldn’t even walk a mile let alone run 13. The transformation in my life --and my health-- all started with a simple choice and a seemingly impossible goal-- I signed up for a 5K. That first run was terrifying for me, a self-proclaimed non-runner, and every single second of it I thought I was going to die or throw up. Once I crossed the finish line though, the most amazing thing happened-- I surprised myself. I literally couldn’t believe that I had run 3 miles in a race and that I had a bib and a medal to prove it! It made me wonder, what else am I capable of that I never knew I could do? My next race day was for a half marathon and eventually a full. That first 5K launched my love affair with running that over the past seven years has helped my body stay strong and my mind stay clear. Running is one of the most special things in my life and if I could give y’all any gift, it would be the gift of challenging yourself to run your own race. There is something so magical about race day and at RISE run this isn’t about competition: it’s about going the distance. After all, running an 8-minute mile or walking a 15-minute mile is the exact same distance. If walking is your jam or running is what fuels your soul, RISE Run is an all-fitness level community event. RISE Run is about becoming the best version of you, while running beside all of us.Expect to attend a race like none other. Expect to be engulfed by a community of fellow goal-setters and supporters. Expect to walk, run, or sprint towards the best version of yourself. Expect to RISE!
